Finally...

It looks like I finally get to start working! I'll be credentialled to start working as of 1 December. It has been great being off for two months, but I'm ready to start practicing again.

Wish me luck!

River Thames

River Thames, originally uploaded by D. Glen Elrod Photography.

After several attempts in vain, I have finally figured out how to show off my photos on flickr better.

Only 7 weeks and 5 days left at RAF Lakenheath. Orders aren't in yet, but I'm not particularly worried. We should get everything in on time. Its just a bit over a week until we head out to Alaska for a house hunting trip. Even with the benefit of the internet, its hard buying a house over the net.

Bruce Willis-Die Hard 4.0

I think I'm feeling my inner Papparrazi now. First the Royal Family, then the Harry Potter kids and now Bruce Willis!

OK, so this one wasn't nearly as close as it was taken from the Burger King upper deck some 500 yards away. But with a borrowed (thanks Steve) 100-400mm lens it wasn't a problem. With the great quality of my 30D it cropped out just nicely.

Rupert Grint, James Phelps and Candice

What are the chances, really, of meeting a celebrity while you are out and about? Cinda, Candice and I along with our friends Carri and 2 of her 4 children, Cassi and Mitchell went to London for the day to see Mary Poppins.

A little aside, Mary Poppins is an absolute MUST see when you are in London. Phenomenal isn't enough to explain how good it is.

Anyway, we had talked on the drive down that it would just be so cool to run in to a celeb just walking around London. And sure enough...WE DID! These young men were so nice and gracious to chat for a second and let us get our 15 seconds of standing next to fame. I was amazed at just how normal they could be.

As the count down gets closer, I will miss London an aweful lot.

In the hole!

I don't have a golf photo, which is probably a good thing. I was watching the Masters last night and realized that whomever started the 'In the hole' scream at golf tournaments should be shot. I mean really. Par 5, 560yards and yelling this off the tee!

I think pro golf tournaments should put up a No ITH signs outside the grounds. Anyone found to yell this should immediately be ejected from the grounds and banned from any other days play. It is just THAT annoying.

Easter

Flower canvas, originally uploaded by D. Glen Elrod Photography.

Happy Easter! Unfortunately at this particular time, I'm stuck in the hospital awaiting another Easter bunny...I mean baby. I've had two already in the last 12 hours and another still to come.

OK...now I've got it

Arch_0014, originally uploaded by D. Glen Elrod Photography.

I needed to post another one, well, because I didn't like that my flickr title went with my post. It looked kind of cheesy.

But, now I think I've figured this out.

If you don't recognize this place, its Tower Bridge from the Big Red Bus Tour in London.

I've looked at this photo on my desktop for days. For the longest time I couldn't decide if I liked it or not.

Now...its one of my favorites.

The color? The fact that it is a solitary living thing in the middle of lava rock? That it seems like me sometimes in a hostile island that is this work environment?

If nothing else, it will give me something to see if this blog thing really works from flickr.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

So why did I start my blogger experience with this photo? It represents home in a few months.
Alaska. Anchorage Alaska to be precise. Shot from Earthquake park on a trip that landed me a new job starting this fall.
This is as much a collection of 'how does this work' as anything. I'll see how it goes before I post more.
